The commeraderie inside and out Atelier 17 and Atelier 63 for me, I hope I shared love and warmth and appreciation for it all when there, as I delve into this glorious past and try and reconnect with those Both my wife and I enjoyed there 1978-August 1980

I told Christina Weyl that i am a bit of a herstorian as well as an artist and someone that gladly welcomes all, and learns and brows volumes from my contacts I made then and that continue now. You have seen some of tge art that was made for me in my small yellow Dessin " J " bervis 536 F5.70 my cost the. Below is an aerogramme in it from fellow artist Fred Jones from Illinois. i am trying to contact him and get back in touch. that would be very special indeed.I remember him and his kindness and generosity. Most I remember of the Americans that came to work in the Atelier 17 how happy they were to be there and how positive theyvwere to be together and share this amazing experience together. And they were of all ages, too. I have wonderful gifts of etchings from so many. Debbie Kaplan, Clare Smith,Marilyn Donnini, Jennifer Clark, Carol Field, Theresa Wegner, these were some of the women, and I mention them here because Christina Weyl is interested in interviewing the women that studied with Bill Hayter.
Atelier 17 was a community for us all.It was friendly and there was lit5le if any problems amongst us. We all seemed to ake friends, we all seemed to try and be pn our best behavior. some kept to themselves , or maybe it only seemed that way because of the language barrier , as most of us I am sure were learning French to communicate better with one another. All in all it was a very positive experience, i thrived in it, loved it, encouraged it, and often invited people over. And they came from around the world, some French but just a few, most from outside France and that really kept things interesting : Argentina, Begium, Columbia, Brazil, Peru, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, China, India, ... and these are just some of the countries I am able to recollect so many years later. As I said I collected many things as souvenirs, all of which I will share here at some point or another. it will happen gradually. What I say to anyone that reads and sees this please reach out and leave a message, tell a story, include any pictures or pieces of art, or other things tgat were impresdionable to you then. Christina Wehl is mounting a retrospective 100 year anniversay celebration show of Atelier 17. Let's all come together and be a part of this breat reunion of sooo many fine and gifted artist! Love u mom writes our daughter on this zinc plate!

We all need love and sunshine , always and in all ways!

It’s sublimely daunting, refreshing, gut wrenching , mildly terrifying, joyous, carnival streamer-throwing wheeeeeee, as I douse and drench myself in this pursuit to etch once again, and look at the materials I have to start up quickly again!

I am going down to look at and photograph okd plates and look at my red metal okd still shiny rectangular box with etching materials inside! i need to get started as I do everytging from updating my okd resume, write my Artistic Statement, get things organized in chronological order, photograph my art, etc. It's a whole lot and I am daily / nightly chipping away at it all, being careful, thoughtful, steady, serious for the most part, childish and carefree for the other - paying close attention to what makes me me and not you - no offence! Anthony Alan Quinn , Saturday with sleet happening outside now on this 11:20am morning January 17,2026! JOY! oh boy!

i used a pecil wax red color to draw broadly on the surface to make this etching to print from, i like these less concrete lines etched so I have more discretion when making my prints.

The thought that counts! Inspired by a bomb that went off in the waiting room for flights at the Newark airport so many moons ago that while living in Paris, France at the time , this destruction and needless killing of lives had a profound effect on me back in 1978 was it? One artist’s proof here with many others to follow.

I took these pictures two days ago , on Tuesday January 13, 2026 I believe. Pointing the finger, it works both ways, should death be tge point, or simply drawing attention to an issue be what is called for and sufficient!. This is the age-old dilemna of mankind, or simply a way to make a few individuals rich while destroying others or many, whatever becessary to pad one's pockets at their expense, and life if need be! I was outraged then in my twenties, still outraged at 72 years of age now! Anthony Alan Quinn Thursday January 15, 2026 4:18pm now

this was a long time ago but still sooooooooo relevant today!

Atelier 17 gathered many artists together from around the world and many had brief time spent there, and others stayed on for many years like Gail Singer and Akemi Noguchi, Hector Saunier, Krishna Reddy, Jean Clerte, and more, these are some that became mentors to me in one capacity or another.

Atelier 17 was the cauldron, the mixing bowl, the foundation, the one foot on the bround while the other roamed all around. I am currently looking to get back into stching having been away from it for quite some time as I have experimented with so many other ways to convey my messages , moods, feelings, pure instincts, that untamed wild , oui sangle et fou element of my living being! I am looking at all the things at that time of my life, and there are many, and in finding themvI will puece together what I may and am capable of doing, and it is enriching and exciting to do this as, even before I etchvagain, at the Arlington Arts Center in northern Virginia, sooooo many ideas come to me as I prepare everything, on a more professional way as I see it is a necessary function today of getting back to some of my early roots and etch and print once again. i went downstaurs to look at the print tgat Gail Singer gave me and signed, it was difficult for her to do so, and I greatly aporeciate tgat she did. This is an etching she made , an artist's proof in 1966 I believe, that she named : " Les plantes qui parlent " - the plants that speak! I love the print, thank you Gail!

I made a video or two today of it with the black and white photograph I have of her in her studio apartment in Paris, and I include it in these videos of today, Thursday, January 15, 2026, now 1:55pm as I start this. Sante a tous et bonne annee 2026. It would have been 1978-80 that I spent time with Gail and her friend Eric Schmid , an Austrian tgat was friends with Hunderwauser,
